Police and other law enforcement agencies are working together to ensure security at Durga Puja venues, Ali Hossain Fakir says.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ali Hossain Fakir has warned that legal action will be taken against individuals spreading misinformation regarding Durga Puja, emphasizing that law enforcement is vigilant against any attempts to disrupt the festival. Speaking to journalists after visiting a Durga Puja mandap at the Ramakrishna Mission in Narayanganj on 19 October, the IGP stated that police and other agencies are working in coordination to ensure security.

“Some people are attempting to spread misinformation about Durga Puja. Police are alert and vigilant against them. Police are committed to foiling all such attempts and maintaining peace and order in society,” he said. He noted that the festival is being celebrated in a positive atmosphere due to public cooperation and inter-agency coordination.

Addressing broader security concerns, the IGP reiterated a zero-tolerance policy toward drugs, terrorism, and extortion. He urged the public to report information regarding extortionists and terrorists to the police. Additionally, Ali Hossain Fakir remarked that the Bangladesh Police has recovered following the July mass uprising and called upon citizens to cooperate in maintaining law and order. Following his remarks, the IGP visited other mandaps, including one in Amlapara, to exchange greetings with visitors.
