A fire that broke out at the government officers’ quarters in the capital’s Mirpur-6 area on Monday night was doused after nearly two and a half hours of efforts.

The blaze erupted in the basement of a 14-storey building, and firefighters were alerted to the incident at 8:02pm, Rafi Al Faruq, duty officer at the control room of the Fire Service and Civil Defence, told the Media.

Three firefighting units extinguished the blaze completely at 10:28pm, he added.

No casualties were reported.

The cause of the fire could not be determined immediately.
