Police urge people not to spread misleading information without verifying reports circulating on social media.

Bangladesh Police has issued a set of security recommendations for Durga Puja organisers and visitors to ensure peaceful celebrations. In a press release issued on Wednesday (14 October), authorities urged the public to remain vigilant against rumours and to verify information circulating on social media before sharing, liking, or commenting on it.

To enhance security at mandaps, police advised organisers to install CCTV cameras, fire extinguishers, and archway gates, while ensuring adequate lighting and standby power arrangements. Visitors are requested to avoid carrying bags, sacks, or bundles into mandaps. Police also recommended that organisers implement separate entry and exit points for male and female visitors and deploy clearly identified volunteers.

Regarding communal harmony, police called on organisers to respect the religious sentiments of other faiths. Specifically, sound systems should be restricted near mosques during azan and prayer times and used sparingly during idol immersion. The use of fireworks and firecrackers is discouraged.

For idol immersion, organisers are advised to follow designated routes and complete the process at locations specified by local authorities. In case of emergencies, the public can contact the national emergency service at 999 or reach out to various police and fire service control rooms.
