The government plans to develop the remaining 500 acres of Teknaf’s Sabrang Tourism Park into a world-class tourism hub. Originally planned as a 1,000-acre project, approximately 500 acres have been lost to the sea due to a lack of timely protective measures. Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar announced the initiative on 25 September following an inspection of the site. The project aims to improve tourism facilities, enhance connectivity between Teknaf and Cox’s Bazar, and reduce travel time on the waterway to Saint Martin’s. A new jetty is also planned for the park, with funds already allocated and construction expected to take about two years. The government intends to develop hotels, motels and other infrastructure, while providing employment opportunities for local residents.
