The Bangladesh Army has been ordered to deploy in six districts, including the capital Dhaka, amid concerns over possible sabotage attempts by the banned Awami League.
The troops will remain in the field until June 30.
The districts covered are Dhaka, Narayanganj, Gopalganj, Chittagong, Faridpur and Gazipur, according to a letter issued by the Home Ministry on Monday, June 22.
Meanwhile, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has implemented comprehensive security measures to maintain law and order in the capital and safeguard the city during the foundation anniversary of the banned Awami League on June 23.
A security blanket has been placed over the entire city to prevent any untoward incidents during related events.
DMP sources said special police pickets and checkpoints would be established at more than 200 strategic locations across Dhaka.
Strict checking and search operations have also been intensified at all entry points to the metropolis.
In addition to regular police, specialised units including the Detective Branch (DB) and the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit will remain active round the clock.
Plainclothes personnel from the Special Branch (SB) and Internal Affairs Division (IAD) will also conduct intelligence operations.
To respond swiftly to any emergency, 15 Quick Response Teams (QRTs) have been positioned at various points in the city, while additional forces will be held in reserve at four main control rooms.
More than 18,000 officers and personnel from the DMP are expected to be on duty across the capital.
